Where I'm not doing anything memorable but read, read, read and READ | April Wrap-up & May TBR

Overall, April was a pretty quiet month. For the first two weeks, I was busy studying, had two finals to pass, then I was on a two weeks-long break. I think I figured out what I’m going to do next year at university, which is both scary and exciting – but I still need to find an internship, ugh. During my break, I went to see a trombone concert where my little brother was playing and they did TV shows music, like the Simpsons, which was so much fun. I used that little trip to visit a bookstore where they actually had books in English (for once) and a ton of Funko Pop (but I didn’t buy any because I have self-control, haha).

I went to see my best friend in the middle of my break and I pushed her to buy Clockwork Angel because she needs it in her life (#evilplan) and then she'll have to buy the rest of the trilogy. She already read the first three books in The Mortal Instruments, you can definitely see I'm a good influence.

The last day of April, my boyfriend's father took us to skeet shooting (you shoot plates for those who don’t know so it’s kinda fine) and well, I tried, but it’s definitely not my thing. I think I shot three times but I almost had a heart attack every time. On Sunday (May 1st but I’m cheating!), I went to see Captain America: Civil War with my boyfriend – it’s out in France since Wednesday – and it was amazing, I'm obsessed (*whispers* Chris Evans). Just go see it when it's out.

For the first two weeks of May, I'll be overwhelmed with finals and then I’ll be done with university until September! I apologize in advance since I'll be late on comments (I already am tbh!) but I'll catch up ASAP!

Here's my April book haul. I actually only bought one of them, Asunder. The Mirror King and Flamecaster were preordered, my boyfriend got me the second for my birthday. Finally, I got When We Collided thanks to a birthday gift card. Yes I know, my birthday was in February but I'm late at spending gift cards.

Flights of Fantasy 32/50 : I think I read nine fantasy books this month, it was mostly what I read (and I'm not even couting rereads) because I was in the mood for that. I'm sure I'll be done in June with this one.

Retelling challenge 8/20 : I read three books for this challenge this month (Unhooked, Tell the Wind and Fire, the Rose and the Dagger) and I'm so proud of myself, because it's the challenge I was behind at the beginning of the year, but no more!

Debut author challenge 7/15 : I only read A Study in Charlotte at the beginning of the month, but I liked it! Moreover, I'm actually ahead on this challenge since I'm almost halfway through with it. I can think of at least four debuts I own but haven't read yet, I need to do something about it.

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater (reread)
The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater
A Tyranny of Petticoarts by Jessica Spotswood (anthology)
Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin
Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
Dreamology by Lucy Keating
Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke

In May, I'm excited for way too many books releases so I'm hoping to also get to most of them, which will happen when I'm done with finals.

Top 3 releases I'm excited for this month:

1. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
2. Warrior Witch by Danielle L. Jensen
3. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

How was your month? What did you read in April? Which book was your favourite? (mine was The Mirror King!) What are your plans for May?

  1. Oh, WOW! You read a lot. I've been in a little bit of a reading slump lately, but I am hoping that will change this month. I'm happy to see that you enjoyed Flamecaster. The Seven Realms series is one of my favourites! I am actually reading Clockwork Angel right now. It's so good. I think I might enjoy it more than The Mortal Instruments. You're haul reminds me that a friend of mine has been trying to convince me to read Incarnate by Jodi Meadows. I am assuming you're enjoying the series? :)

    2. I read so much most of the time in fact, and I had a two weeks long break so it helped a lot! ;) Seven Realms is one of my favourite series too, and Flamecaster did not disappoint! I'm happy about that, because I had huge expectations! I love The Infernal Devices more than The Mortal Instruments, it took me forever to read City of Lost Souls (I had forgotten the book somewhere, lol) and I was so done with the series, I was way more interested by what she would be writing next!
Yes, I'm really enjoying the Newsoul trilogy by Jodi Meadows, I really like the world and the premise. It involves some "paranormal" creatures we're not used to see and I was a little surprised by the twist on that subject. Moreover, the premise is quite original, since it's all about reincarnation and there is a lot of music involved! I still need to read the last book in the trilogy (after buying it, haha)! <3 I hope you'll enjoy this trilogy if you pick it up! I also love her Orphan Queen duology!
